Week 3 INSPIRATIONAL STATEMENT

This week my inspirational statement I heard from T.D. Jakes, but it is assumed that Nelson Mandela also used the quote:

“You are drinking the poison trying to kill the enemy”

It is not unusual for people to harbor resentment or hold grudge sometimes for long periods of time and often over small things that could be easily attributed to someone having an off day, some problem they are having, their poor people skills and thus, simply written off as their issue not yours. Maybe your boss or a manager upsets you by having you start over on tasks you completed because they didn’t give you the right directions in the first place, or an employee makes you angry but messing up a project they told you they weren’t sure they knew how to complete, or a friend or family member is judgmental about something when you turned to them for support. Holding a grudge and harboring resentment are about as beneficial as cutting off your nose to spite your face. You are only doing yourself harm and most often to other person is not even aware of your feelings. Grudges have no positive attributes and no benefits in any area of our lives.

I used this quote because many people hold on to grudges. They blame others for not reaching their potential because of something negative another person may have said to sway you from your course of reaching your goals. So you harbor ill feelings towards them and forget your focus because you have now turned your focus on finding a way to get back at them. This has caused you to poison yourself. Stop feeding yourself the poison and turn the tables on the other person by taking their negative statement and turning it into a positive for yourself. Don’t let anyone stop you following/achieving your dreams and goals.
